The True Story of Ah Q is a novella written by Lu Xun, describing Ah Q, an employee from rural peasant class, who is afraid of people with power and strength but often bullies the less fortunate. He is famous for his self-deception, aka “spiritual victory”, even when faced humiliation. The ending of the story that Ah Q was carted to be executed is really satirical. The True Story of Ah Q is the first piece of work fully written in Vernacular Chinese and a masterpiece in Chinese Literature, which criticizes the corruption, bad traditions, and hackneyed opinions.
